A Weekend in the Trees

Somehow we missed publishing this recap of the Spring Retreat! For your nostalgic amusement...
Yeah, so, it rained most of the weekend.
But that didn't stop them.

We were welcomed with a reception of coffee, tea and snacks upon check-in. The redwood-shingled registration building is near the center of the main complex - I was struck by the beauty and little details of the landscaping. Flowers were already in bloom, spilling out of pots and over arbors.

Cherry trees full of pink and white blossoms stood out in striking contrast to the redwood trees. Mount Hermon was a surprise to the many women on the retreat who had never been there before.

The facility itself is enormous. Dozens of buildings nestled up and down the canyon, beautifully landscaped, with every amenity you could ask for - from a workout center, to a coffee shop, ice cream fountain, bookstore - even a post office.

For the adventurous, a ropes course or canopy tours on zip lines through the top of the forest. For the weary, roaring fires and places to just sit and be.

The keynote speaker, Libby Vincent, presented four inspiring talks on hope - peppering her insights into the many facets of hope with her own hilarious and personal stories. Buffet style meals - yummy in variety and plentiful in quantity - were offered in a large dining room with fresh flowers blooming on every table.

Breakout sessions on a variety of topics provided choices for everyone during two sessions, once on Friday, and again on Sunday.

Time to worship, time to learn, time to relax, and time to connect - this retreat was definitely a winner. Offered annually and open to anyone, the Mount Hermon Women's Retreat is definitely something we will do again!
