Fall Tuesday Morning Bible Study

Starting September 3, Tuesdays, 9:30am in the Birch Room
Free childcare provided!

About Unglued:
Lysa TerKeurst admits that she, like most women, has experiences where others bump into her happy and she comes emotionally unglued.

We stuff, we explode, or react somewhere in between. What do we do with these raw emotions? Is it really possible to make emotions work for us instead of against us? Yes, and in her usual inspiring and practical way, Lysa will show you how.

Filled with personal examples and Biblical teaching, Unglued will equip you to:

  • Know with confidence how to resolve conflict in your important relationships.
  • Find peace in your most difficult relationships as you learn to be honest but kind when offended. Identify what type of reactor you are and how to significantly improve your communication.
  • Respond with no regrets by managing your tendencies to stuff, explode or react somewhere in between.
  • Gain a deep sense of calm by responding to situations out of your control without acting out of control.

Saying Goodbye to JoAnne

The women of the Campbell Church are mourning the loss of a sweet sister who has loved, led, and guided so many of our women in her many, many years at the Campbell Church. JoAnne Dodson passed away late Tuesday night.

JoAnne (Morris) Dodson was one of the original members of the Campbell Church. She and her husband Don started attending the Campbell Church of Christ on Rincon Avenue in 1958. She taught Sunday Bible classes for children (just like her daughter Leeanna does today) for over fifteen years with other wonderful women Mary Ruby and Bobbie Alexander. Joanne also worked for many years in the Campbell Christian preschool with Loretta Houston.

She and Don had four daughters - Nanette Skjerven, Sandi Dodson, Leeanna Martinez, and Carol Pollard. JoAnne loved her grandchildren - Justin and Tyler Dawson, Aaron, Kristen and Jeremy Pollard, Molly and Wilson Skerjven, Taylor and Brendan Franklin, Jordan Voytilla, and her great-grandchildren as well.

In 1987, JoAnne and Don retired to Lake Almanor. After Don's death seven years ago, JoAnne moved back to the area to be closer to her family. The Campbell Church has been her only home church for her entire adult life.
Her children stand up and call her blessed...

“Many women do noble things.
But you are better than all the others.”
Charm can fool you. Beauty fades.
But a woman who has respect for the Lord should be praised.
Give her the reward she has earned.
Let everything she has done bring praise to her.

Memorial Services for JoAnne will be held on April 27 at 1:30pm in the Oak Room.

We extend our heartfelt love and support to her daughter Leeanna Dodson Martinez.
Leeanna has taught Campbell's 1st and 2nd grade Bible class on Sunday mornings for many years, volunteers at Rosemary School's Kids Club every Tuesday, and is one of the team of women who bring Oasis every month.

Oasis Lineup - Fall 2013

We have such an exciting line up of speakers for the fall, that we can't wait to tell you about them!

First up on September 21 is Cheri Gregory. You may remember Cheri from MOPS events, as well as a one-day retreat a few years ago in which she helped us understand the baggage we carry keeps us living in His de-Light! More about Cheri...

On October 12 we have Lisa Bogart. One of those people that makes you laugh, even when you are trying hard not to! The author of Come On In, Taking the Hassle Out of Hospitality and Knit With Love, Stories to Warm a Knitter's Heart. Read more about Lisa on her website.

On November 9, we have Andrea Coli, author of Scriptless: What I Learned About God on the Las Vegas Strip. Lisa's improv background and seminary education provide a solid foundation for sound biblical teaching paired with a lively sense of humor. More about Andrea...

Mark you calendars and don't miss these great events! Want to help with Oasis next season? We'd love to have you. Call the church office at 378-4900 if you're interested.

"Transitions" - Oasis on April 20

Our final event for the summer!
Oasis is an event for women created and hosted by the Women's Ministry of the Campbell Church. Held on a Saturday morning, with breakfast, time to relax, hear great speakers and meet new friends.

Transitions: Real Women, Real Stories
As Oasis concludes this season, we look back at our speakers and think of how life's transitions have grown us, and taught us what it truly means to trust in God and find our oasis in Him. We've learned how to weather the ups and downs of our ever-changing lives and learned how wisdom gained from the past can propel us into the future.

At our final event for the summer, we will hear from the women who have already put these lessons into practice in their own lives - women among us who will be sharing about the transitions they have gone through; changes they have weathered with grace and courage, and maybe a few bumps along the way.

Saturday, April 20
Featuring Cornelia Pool, Peggy Cross and Debbie Oswald
9-11am in the Oak Room. Breakfast provided.
Childcare by reservation only. Call 408.378.4900, x264 by April 17.

Bible Studies Beginning January 8

Tuesday mornings, in the Birch Room,
9:30am-11:30am.
Free childcare provided.

Walk with Ruth as she travels from Moab to Bethlehem, certain of her calling, yet uncertain of her future. Hold Naomi’s hand and watch love put the pieces of her broken life back together. And hang out with Boaz, their kinsman-redeemer, who blesses both women and honors God, big time.

Think of it as time travel without gimmicks, gizmos, or a DeLorean: a novel approach to Bible study that leaps from past to present, gleaning timeless truths that will draw you nearer to the One who knows you fully, loves you completely, and holds you close to his heart.
